Color in film preliminary Exercise 5 : vocabulary

 What is color in film?

Color can set the mood or theme of a setting in a movie such as the color yellow which can induce/give the feeling of joy, happiness, and freedom color in film is important to director's and cinematographers as color helps them portray their feelings and desire into their film.

Why  is color in film important?

Color in film is important because it allows the audience to feel more in sink with the emotions of the characters and story and helps the story feel more relatable or as though you are right there.
3 codes used in a film that illustrate color

  • Yellow- Freedom
  • Blue- Loneliness
  • Red- Romance

Who is responsible for color in film?

Colorists are the people responsible for color in film.

The Objective

The objective of this assignment was to create slides analyzing  the symbiotic meaning of colors in film. We had to research and select nine frames from different movies and point out and research about the color used in the frame and what effect it had on the frame and the entire scene and movie.

What did i learn?

I learned about the vocabulary shown above and what each word means and how they are used allowing me to use them in the future. I also learned how to use color in film and use them to my advantage in films.
